Sony 70-400mm F4-5.6G SSM II Lens

This lens covers an extremely wide telephoto range with ample brightness that could take you from an elegant 70mm portrait to a stunning 400mm wildlife shot in an instant without having to change lenses and potentially miss a great shot. Two ED glass elements delivering excellent sharpness and contrast right out to the edges of the image at all focal lengths.

Uncommonly fast aperture.

The f/4-5.6 aperture enables shooting at higher shutter speeds to freeze sports action.

G Series Optical Performance.

Sony's G-Series lenses are designed for maximum descriptive power, maintaining excellent peripheral light characteristics and maximizing contrast even at the edges of the frame.

Superb Minimum Focusing Distance.

With the ability to focus as closely as 5 feet (1.5m), this telephoto lens also lets you move in for dramatic shots of people, natural subjects and close-up details.

Three Focus Hold Buttons.

The lens enables to you firmly lock in focus for creative control. Focus range limiter can be set to speed auto-focus response. Focus Hold also enables image preview with the α900 D-SLR.

Internal Focusing.

Focus is accomplished by moving an internal element group, so focus is faster.

Works with Optional Teleconverters.

Compatible with optional Sony SAL14TC (1.4x) which extends focal length to 560mm (35mm equivalent when used with APS-C format cameras: 840mm) and SAL20TC (2.0x) teleconverters which extends focal length to 800mm (35mm equivalent when used with APS-C format cameras: 1200mm). Teleconverters are compatible with manual focus only.

Superb flexibility.

The 5.7x zoom range goes all the way from 70mm, suitable for portraits and other medium-angle shots, to a super-telephoto 400mm.

ED (Extra-low Dispersion)

Two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements minimize chromatic aberration for sharp, clear images with well defined colors.

In-Camera Image Stabilization.

Works with the SteadyShot image stabilization built into Sony α D-SLRs.

Multi-Element Design.

The SAL-70400G incorporates 18 elements in 12 groups for high optical precision from the center of the image all the way to the corners.

Auto Clutch.

For reliable operation, the manual focus ring does not rotate in auto-focus mode.

Super Telephoto Zoom.

This superb 70-400mm zoom lens is an excellent choice for a wide range of medium to long-distance telephoto applications. (35mm equivalent when used with APS-C format cameras: 105-600mm.)

SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor).

SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) is supremely responsive: faster, smoother, quieter focusing.

0.27x maximum magnification.

Smooth Manual Focusing.

An easy-grip focus ring on the lens barrel gives you a solid "hands-on" feel in manual focusing.

Circular Aperture.

Because the aperture blades form a near circle at the wide openings used for low-light shots, spot-light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect. The lens features nine aperture blades.

Q: Are you shipping/open during COVID-19?
A: Yes, we are still working and dispatching most orders by next working day. All of the delivery services we use are running. Impact by COVID-19 is basically slower delivery times. Before COVID-19 most deliveries take 3~6 working days, now it's around 3~10 working days. The arrival times are less regular than before, with some deliveries turning up in 2 days , most taking around a week, and on rare occasions taking longer. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Q: The prices are so good, what's the catch ?
A: Get rid of the middleman! We import directly from distributors in Japan, USA, Europe, where the prices are lower. Reliable manufacturer appointed distributors with the best prices = lower prices for everyone!

Q: Do I need to pay any additional charges, taxes?

Q: Do you have showroom, shopfront, store? Can I pick up?
A: We don't hold stock in our Sydney office, we ship from our Hongkong warehouse. Shipping time is around a week and a bit at the moment. Our Sydney office will arrange warranty servicing with official manufacturer service centres.

Q: Are the cameras different to what's in the stores? Language on the buttons are the same?
A: Yes all cameras are exactly the same: Only difference will be accessories like user manual (can be downloaded anyway), battery charger (we will give you free adaptor).
